Moms work hard -- at home and at the office!
If you’re planning on doing any holiday gift shopping online this year, you might want to consider patronizing a mom-owned business. There are hundreds to choose from, selling everything from clothing and jewelry to customized books and toys.
Why buy from a mom-owned business? There are dozens of answers, but here’s the one I find the most: these businesses are created from love. And where there’s love, there’s usually great customer service and a very high-quality product. Moms don’t just start businesses to make quick cash. Most ‘mompreneurs’ I have spoken with have very creative ideas and the drive (though usually not the desired free time) to achieve them. Also, their businesses are often self-funded and rely on continuing sales, rather than investments, to keep going.
Do you have a daughter who loves to be a ballerina or a fairy? Then head on over to the internet’s tutu capital, Cutie Pa Tutus. This Charleston, SC-based company was founded by mom of two Amanda Moreno Duke. She offers an extensive collection of handmade tutus, including a holiday collection with names such as The Peppermint Patty, Mrs. Claus and The Virginia. If there aren’t any little girls in your family, Cutie Pa Tutus also offers superhero capes and magic wands for the little males in your life.
If the complete fairy package is what your princess needs, you might want to check out Fairy-Gram.com. This mom-owned business can put together an entire fairy package — complete with tutu, wings, wand and halo — gift wrap it and deliver it to your recipient’s door. They offer several styles to choose; you’ll be sure to find one to please your special girl.
If all you need are items for boys, here’s your source: The Boys Store is an online store run by mothers out of Carson City, Nevada. They are one of the few sources online for boys-only apparel and accessories. You can shop for items by age, item, brand or sale items. And these moms pride themselves on high-quality merchandise and excellent customer services.
If you would like to find more mom-owned businesses, a great site is Mom Made That! founded by mom and blogger Amy Bellgardt. There you’ll find dozens of mom-owned businesses listing their products and services. Many businesses listed also post special coupons for Mom Made That! readers, including special holiday discounts.
G is 4 Girl is proudly listed on the Mom Made That! site. We are mom-owned and operated. Balancing a family and work at times is difficult, but since both are labors of love, I wouldn’t trade them for anything! If you’re looking for clothes or other products to inspire the girl in your life, please check our our online store. We offer a wide-range of items with inspirational designs on them: everything from shirts and hoodies to bags and bears. One of our most popular selling items this week is a new design, our “Definition of a Girl” journal.
Happy Holidays!
